KISS Mask: Happy New Year 2011

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2001 KISS FANS!

Our apology to our readers:
First, KISS Mask Webzine would like to apologize to our readers. The KISS Mask has been experiencing technical issues over the past two weeks which has enabled us to post on a regular basis. Hopefully, these issues have been worked out, and we will be back up to normal if not lightning speed January 1, 2011.

What's up and coming:
In 2010, look for our KISS 'Photo of the Week' where there will be a new KISS photo from all eras published in our top header and post with the origin of the photo. You will see photos that you will be familiar with as well as obscure photos you may never have seen before. Fans Speak will always be part of the new format where you can email us with your thoughts and opinions

A great year for KISS is on it's way:
2011 should shape up to be another great year for KISS fans: A new KISS album has been promised (tentative for a February release), a new world tour (United States, Europe, South America as well as possible stops in Australia, South America, Japan and possibly Russia) and the continuation of the great KISSOLOGY DVD series. A monster box set has also bee reported by GENE SIMMONS for 2011. As first reported here in August 2009, PETER CRISS' new rock album should see the light of day. VINNIE VINCENT will see a new signature guitar to debut at this year's NAMM Convention in Anaheim. Hopefully, we'll see more of ACE FREHLEY this year with a proper tour and can we dream, another album?!

We are working hard to change our format a bit to include KISSTORY articles and photos even when KISS news maybe slow. There will be new changes in reporting and tapping in on parts of KISSTORY throughout the past 37 years that will be of great interest to KISS fans and former members. We will also concentrate on the classic KISS lineup with video, articles, fascinating facts, and exclusive photos. 2011 is looking to be a great year, not only for KISS and KISS fans, but for KISS MASK WEBZINE as well.

Kiss Still Not In Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Annual Outrage Time: KISS Still Not In Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
Click top headline to got to NPR
by Mark Memmott/NPR.org

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 2011 inductees have been announced and once again, KISS is not being honored.
Now, I've never particularly liked the band. But, come on. The boys have sold more than 100 million albums. They're still slapping on the face paint and strapping on the platform boots to do concerts around the world. The band's a legend in its own time. Even the decidedly-unmetal Wilco pays a sort of homage to KISS.
Nothing against this year's honorees (the Alice Cooper band; Neil Diamond; Dr. John; Darlene Love; Tom Waits; Leon Russell; Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman; and Specialty Records founder Art Rupe). They're all deserving.
And as I said last year, there are others who aren't in the Hall that probably should be.
But what about KISS?

'The Eric Carr Story' is now Available

New Book on Eric Carr, 'The Eric Carr Story,' is Now Available
Greg Prato, the author of such books as "Grunge Is Dead: The Oral History Of Seattle Rock Music", "Touched By Magic: The Tommy Bolin Story" and "A Devil On One Shoulder And An Angel On The Other: The Story Of Shannon Hoon And Blind Melon", has a new title that is now available for purchase. "The Eric Carr Story" is the first-ever book to tell the life story of KISS drummer Eric Carr.
Comprised of all-new interviews, the book also doubles as a study of 1980s-era KISS. You'll find insight into all of KISS' albums that featured Carr (from producers Bob Ezrin, Michael James Jackson, and Ron Nevison), as well as those closest to him (sister Loretta Caravello, girlfriend Carrie Stevens, KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick), and music-related friends (Eddie Trunk, DREAM THEATER's Mike Portnoy, ANTHRAX's Charlie Benante). Also included is one of the last-ever interviews conducted with KISS' original manager, Bill Aucoin, and for the first time ever, KISS fans will be able to learn what the real story line to KISS' controversial release "(Music From) The Elder" was all about (thanks to an explanation from Ezrin).
With the 20-year anniversary of Eric Carr's passing (November 24, 1991) approaching in 2011, what better way to celebrate the subjects than with all-new book? The book is set up in an "oral history" format (in other words, you're getting the story straight from the source) and is chock-full of rarely seen (or, in many cases, never-before-seen) photographs.
The Eric Carr book is 256 pages long and priced at $19.99 (ISBN # 978-0-578-07424-5).

Paul Stanley Joins NOH8 Equality Campaign

Paul Stanley Joins The Fight

Our Kiss frontman has joined the tireless fight against bullying and equality for the rights of the LGBT
Community. Hot off the heels of bandmate Gene Simmons' NOH8 PSA and photo that appeared several weeks ago.

NOH8campaign.com
Crusade garnering national prominence for efforts to curtail bullying, teen suicide and achieve equality for all Paul Stanley recently lent his support to The NOH8 Campaign, a photographic silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8.

Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths, symbolizing their voices being silenced by Prop 8 and similar legislation around the world, with "NOH8" painted on one cheek in protest.According to co-founder Jeff Parshley, NOH8 was thrilled about "Paul Stanley lending his iconic face to the campaign."

Paul Stanley also recorded a number of public service announcements which will begin airing nationally over the next few weeks. For more information on The NOH8 Campaign or to pledge your support, visit http://www.noh8campaign.com/.

'Gene Simmons Family Jewels' Premired Last Night

Gene Simmons Family Jewels
Sunday at 9/8c on A&E
By Sammi T./TVGrapvine.com

Gene Simmons is at it again. The legendary KISS performer, who also appeared in Celebrity Apprentice, returns with his reality series Gene Simmons: Family Jewels Sunday, December 5 at 9:00 PM on A&E. The show follows the everyday lives of Gene, his longtime partner Shannon Tweed and their children Nick and Sophie. The show has covered everything from Sophie's Sweet Sixteen to health scares to touring vs. everyday life.

This season takes on a more serious turn as Gene accompanies his mother to the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam. Many people have no idea that his mother was Anne's age when she was in a concentration camp, facing the very same terror that Anne faced herself. Gene and his mom have always been very close, and this special bonding moment will bring their relationship to a whole new level. As the two tour the house, we will learn more about their pasts and their family history. We will get a deeper look into who Gene really is as he faces his past and events that shaped him into the man he is today. He will have to come to terms with these events, but how will they impact his future? Gene will also spend time with a young man from Amsterdam, and I am advising you now to have your tissues ready! This episode will definitely make you cry.

Other fun things to expect this season include appearances by Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian, visits to Vegas, strip clubs, a visit to a sleep doctor and so much more.

Gene Simmons Family Jewels airs Sundays at 9pm on A&E.
