Vinnie Vincent Loses Bankruptcy Appeal

Ex-KISS Guitarist Loses Bankruptcy Appeal
By ANNIE YOUDERIAN

(CN) - Former KISS guitarist Vincent John Cusano, a.k.a. "Vinnie Vincent," lost his 6th Circuit appeal of an order barring him from seeking bankruptcy protection from paying more than $81,000 to his former band mates, whom he unsuccessfully sued for royalties in 1997. Cusano replaced lead guitarist Ace Frehley in 1982 and played with the band for two years. He departed on bad terms, and later claimed KISS members Gene (Simmons) Klein and Paul Stanley owed him royalties for his work on Kiss' 1983 album "Lick It Up." However, a federal judge in Los Angeles ruled against him and awarded the KISS defendants about $66,400 in attorney's fees and $15,400 in costs. Simmons and Stanley asked the court for permission to sell Cusano's copyrights to satisfy the judgment.

Paul Stanley & Gene Simmons Issue Statement on Bill Aucoin's Passing

Bill Aucoin, our irreplaceable original manager, mentor and dear friend has died of complications arising from his ongoing battle with prostate cancer. He was instrumental in guiding us from the beginning and without his vision, leadership and unending dedication, we could never have scaled the heights we have reached.

Bill loved life and lived it to the fullest. Words can never convey his impact on us or those close to him.

Over all the years, he never missed an opportunity to be with us at our shows near his home or fly in for special concerts, including our most recent Madison Square Garden show. He had hoped to attend our London show earlier this month but his illness prevented it. He still planned to visit us upon the start of our upcoming US tour.

We loved him, told him and have peace that he knew it.We will grieve and celebrate all he was and did.We have lost a part of us.

Paul Stanley Gene Simmons

Kiss Monster Mini Golf Coming To Vegas

LAS VEGAS-
April Corbin/Las Vega Weekly
In a city full of themed attractions, two niches remain unfilled: monsters and Kiss.
Oh, but they’re coming, at least if Christina Vitagliano has her way. The founder of Monster Mini Golf — that’s monster as in “boo,” with no relation to the energy drink — is looking to bring her nationwide mini-golf empire to Las Vegas. She currently is negotiating a price on a Strip location, where she plans to build a 10,000-square-foot indoor, glow-in-the-dark mini-golf park centered on monsters and iconic rock band Kiss, what else?
“We are big on family entertainment. We’re freaky but fun. We’re all ages,” says Vitagliano. “Kiss is kind of like that, too.”
To find proof this one-of-a-kind venture can work, Vitagliano says you need look no further than a Kiss concert arena. “Adults are there with their kids. It’s the only time I’ve ever been to a concert where there are two or three generations with the shared music taste.”

My Mom Was A Kiss Fan!

Today, June 13, is the tenth anniversary of my mom's passing. She was not only a fantastic woman and an amazing mom, she was also a Kiss fan.

She put up with my endless Kiss posters from ceiling to walls in my room and my blaring stereo of Kiss records in the 1970's. She supported me in my crazy obsession with Kiss and allowed me to see my favorite band of heroes in concert (with the exception of Kiss playing Wildwood, NJ in 1975, where after seeing the band on the Mike Douglas Show, forbid me to see them- which I snuck out to anyway) whenever they came to town, sometimes letting me travel from city to city with my friends and his oldest brother.

She would later go to a signing during the Lick It Up tour where I was completely and pleasantly surprised to arrive and see her with my dad there in line to meet the band. When Paul passed by her on their way into the record store, she grabbed him on the ass, where Paul greeted her with a 'hi,' a smile and a chuckle. I later asked her why she did that she said, "I couldn't help myself. He's so damn good looking." I realized not only was she a Kiss fan but a HUGE Paul fan to boot.

Later, she asked if I would take her to see Kiss. I did. And several times. She loved them and understood what I saw in them not only in a live setting but musically as well. She proclaimed, "They are not a bunch of screamers but very good singers and put on one helluva show." Often I would turn to look and see her dancing to the music. My friends would say what a cool mom I had. I did.

In closing. Mom, I miss you very much. I'm a so glad I had the opportunity to share something so important to my adolescences and in my life with you. Thanks for letting me be who I am. Never complaining about the Kiss music that blared from my bedroom and all those tack holes in the walls from every Kiss poster that covered my room in the 70's.

More importantly, aside from Kiss, you were the mom a son could only have wished for. I am very fortunate to have known you. You raised me well. You gave me love, confidence and support. I hope I was a good son to you and have made you proud. After all, you made me the loving, caring, respectful and successful man that I am today. I love you.
Forever your son, Frank

Will Kiss Play "Beth" for American Audiences on their US Summer Tour?

That's a big question looming. Since Kiss' set list seems to vary between European and American audiences, I wonder if they will include Beth in their American set this summer with the HOTTEST SHOW ON EARTH Tour when the band returns home?

I hope so. Look, I'm an old school Kiss fan from 1975 and have seen over 120 Kiss shows and personally it does not bother me at all. I've enjoyed all variations of the band throughout it's Kisstory. It is part of the amazing Kiss catalog and why not? There is no disrespect to Peter Criss here from the band itself. Kiss is performing the song acoustically with Eric Singer and not with a tape as Peter once did. Kiss did re-record the song in 1988 with Eric Carr on vocals for the Smashes, Thrashes & Hits best of and was included in the 'Beautiful Girls' movie soundtrack. Eric received some negative feedback from fans, but in an 1989 interview he did with me, he was surprised it wasn't more. However, it's their catalog, their show, and after performing into their 37Th year, they can do what they want. Right? But can they win over the American Kiss crowd this summer by performing it?

Kiss seem to be getting plenty of Roberta (Flack- a term Paul once used in an interview) in the Kiss message board world over the sheer fact that they are now doing "Beth" live. Will it work in America? No one knows if they will even do the song here. We'll see. What will be interesting is to see how much the set list changes from continent to continent.

Gene Simmons' Last Day on Earth

ClashMusic.com conducted an interview with Gene on what he would do on his last day on earth.

How would you spend your last day on Earth? GENE SIMMONS from KISS would gorge on Jaffa Cakes.
Where would you like to wake up?This is not an answer that makes people in other countries happy and it always sounds a little self-serving…quite honestly? The United States Of America. People are always proud of where they’re from. I’m not from America, I’m telling you as an immigrant, that’s where I wanna be.
Who would you like to wake up next to?Myself.
What would there be left to achieve on your last day?Fascinating question. I’ve achieved everything I’ve wanted to. Let me see… I guess in all seriousness, make at least one person’s life happier than it was before.

Lydia Criss Interview

Revolution Magazine
By Stacy Arrington
Brooklyn-born Lydia DiLeonardo became Mrs. Peter Criscuola (aka Peter Criss) in January of 1970. Lydia was there for the beginning stages of KISS. Most of us can only imagine what it would be like to be there at the beginning, the middle and in some regards even the present day.
Peter Criss is without a doubt the most famous drummer to ever grace the stage with KISS. In 1976 Peter co-wrote a song for the band called “Beth” said to have been written for Lydia. The song became a Top 10 hit and in interviews Peter has said the lyrics “reflect Lydia’s lamenting that she missed him while on tour”. In 1977, KISS won the People’s Choice Award for “Beth” and Lydia accepted it on behalf of the band.
In 1979 Lydia and Peter divorced. Lydia wrote an autobiography of sorts entitled “Sealed With A Kiss” which documents her time with Peter.
Revolution recently had the chance to speak with Lydia Criss about the past and the present and where she finds herself today.
It took close to 10 years to finish and publish the book “Sealed With A Kiss”. I am sure it was like reliving both the good times and the bad times, a roller coaster of emotions. Was this a hard process and is that why it took so long? Or were you just finally ready?
This was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. The attention to detail is one of my strong points so I made sure that everything in the book was accurate and true. There were times when I would have to proofread the text and relive the incidents. I would usually do this late at night when the phones stop ringing. I was all by myself and it was so fresh in my mind that at times I would start crying, and then read the next paragraph and go hysterical laughing. It took so long because I started in 1997 and my publisher went bankrupt. It took me years to get my stuff back. Then I had to find the funds and the people to work with me. Even though it seems like it took me 9 years, the actual working time was only 3 years.
Did you find closure in the process?
Yes, closure that I didn’t have to keep all of this in my memory anymore. After I was finished I felt I could take the whiteout and erase everything and was relieved that it is now on paper.
Let’s go back in time… How did you meet Peter?
It was in the mid 1960s when the British invasion had just hit America. I was just starting to go to dance clubs like the Cheetah in Manhattan with my girlfriends. We would go every weekend and one weekend one of my friends asked me if I wanted to go to see her boyfriend’s band play in a local club in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I said sure. I was introduced to everyone and the drummer in the band was Peter Criscuola. After talking in-between breaks, Peter asked me if I wanted to go to the beach with him and his friends the following day. I said yes and from then on we started dating. Three and one half years later we got married.

Gene Simmons Denies Makeup Artist's Claims

UPI.com

LOS ANGELES, June 4 (UPI) -- Rock star and TV personality Gene Simmons is denying claims by a makeup artist who said he assaulted her while visiting ESPN studios in Los Angeles.
Victoria Jackson filed a lawsuit against Simmons in Los Angeles Superior Court May 27, demanding the KISS frontman pay her $500,000 in damages for an assault Simmons said never took place.
Jackson said Simmons sexually assaulted her by grinding against her when he was in the ESPN studio to appear on "ESPN SportsCenter" before a KISS concert last November.
Simmons denies this could have happened since he was wearing full KISS makeup and costume, including a codpiece, at the time of the alleged incident.
"I have no idea who this woman is and I deny her allegations," Simmons said in a statement Friday. "I was only at the ESPN studios for a very short time, perhaps a half-hour, and was accompanied by KISS' drummer Eric Singer the entire time. I will not stand by and allow this baseless allegation to go unchallenged."
"Gene denies that any assault took place or that Ms. Jackson suffered any injuries attributable to any action on his part," Simmons' attorney, Barry E. Mallen, said. "Mr. Simmons intends to defend himself aggressively and he looks forward to refuting Ms. Jackson's charges in the courtroom."

Kiss in Australia 1980: The Movie They Never Made

You can file this under “Movies I’m Glad They Never Made”.
tcarsc blog

When the 1980 Kiss Australian tour was announced I stated my intentions on going. However as I was twelve at the time I didn’t fancy my chances and it got worse when my older brother went out to buy tickets but came back empty handed claiming the show had sold out. Bastards! Come my 13th birthday and what did I find in my birthday card? A Kiss ticket! Yes! Life was complete. My oldest brother took me to see it and we had a blast. I’ve always said that it’s the fondest memory that I have of my oldest brother as he was on his best behaviour all night and had me on his shoulders so I could see over the crowd. I suspect that he was kind of happy, in his own way, at my own excitement. The day was a dreary, cold, windy and wet one, but that didn’t dampen anyone’s enthusiasm. I recall my brother talking to a guy in the line who had three thongs, one on each foot and another in his hand. When asked what the third thong was for the answer was simple, “Darryl Cotton's head mate.” At the time we believed that Cotton, formerly of Zoot, was the support act, a horrid thought indeed. Imagine out surprise when the support band came out and we discovered it was none other than…The Eyes, a band you’ve never heard of before and never heard of since. Four songs in it happened. POW! Right on the forehead, a thong went bouncing. “Fuck yas all ya pack of cunts!” came the cry from the stage and off went The Eyes. Brilliant! I remember seeing dozens of programmes on the floor, all being trampled after being discarded. I should have gathered them up, considering what they sell for today. Kiss in 1980, at Adelaide Oval, remains my first ever concert. I could have done worse. A-Ha popped by a few years later.

One band from each of twenty-two markets across the United States will be chosen to play at a KISS show.
